The library of the Institute is one of the oldest libraries in the ICAR system. Established in 1924, it is playing an important role in meeting the information needs of its user. Library of the Institute is enriched with pioneering and rare literature on lac, in the form of monographs, annual reports, type-written books, publications and other such materials. It is a repository of scientific and technical information on natural resins and gums. Besides catering to the needs of Institute scientists it also renders services to other researchers, academicians, technologists and students as well as lac/gums/resins industrialists from other part of the country. All regular institute publications (Annual Reports/ Newsletters/ Lac-Resins-Gums Statistics/ Laksha /Dorothy Norris Lecture Series etc,.) since beginning and research article/ bulletins are available in PDF form for the users. Most of these materials are also uploaded on ICAR-Krishi Portal.
Advance/ full text/ abstracts access of more than 4000 journals and more than 1000 books from several publishers has been made available online through Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA). The library maintained adequate linkage with leading reference libraries for strengthening the information resources. The library also continued to exchange of institute publications with the scientific institutions in and outside the country. The library is also involved in distribution of extension literature and sale of the priced publications of the institute.
